CLA Membership Benefits

Benefits of Membership in the Carolina Loggers Association

The Carolina Loggers Association is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit business league built to strengthen the wood products industry in North Carolina and across the region. Membership connects you to real support, real savings, and a statewide network of people who understand the work. CLA gives loggers, truckers, and industry partners a place to stand together, stay informed, and move forward with a stronger voice.

Networking

This industry runs on relationships. CLA brings logging, trucking, equipment, fuel, insurance, and forestry partners together through statewide and regional meetings, annual events, and day to day communication. Members have access to a growing network of professionals who can help with trucking, fuel, repairs, or local guidance when working outside their normal operating area.

Our website and email alerts are built around what working loggers need each day. Members stay informed on trucking regulations, fuel purchasing, safety updates, training opportunities, weather impacts, and wood delivery markets. Partner members can post wood market needs, and mills can share purchase hours or curtailments that are e-blasted to all members when timing matters.

Reciprocal agreements with Virginia and South Carolina allow companies working across state lines to save on membership costs and stay connected to local resources and support.

Advocacy

Strong representation matters. CLA employs a full-time Executive Director who is a registered lobbyist and who works daily to protect and advance the interests of logging businesses in Raleigh. At the national level, our affiliation with the American Loggers Council gives members direct insight into pending federal trucking regulations and major policy decisions affecting the industry.

When members run into trouble on the road or with inspections, CLA is there. We assist with highway regulations, enforcement citations that may need a second look, and guidance on preparing for OSHA inspections. Safety citations, compliance questions, and regulatory changes are all part of the support members can count on.

Partnerships

The industry works best when it works together. CLA partners with mills, equipment dealers, research institutions, and service providers to bring members access to practical resources for everyday operations. Cost models for harvesting and trucking, including fuel indexing tools, help members better understand the true costs of running their business.

Members can take advantage of the exclusive Michelin and BFGoodrich tire discount program, available at participating Michelin dealers across the United States. This benefit alone saves members significant money over the course of a year.

CLA collaborates closely with North Carolina State University on new logging technologies, biomass development, and emerging wood markets. Members also receive updates on new wood using and biomass facilities being developed in the state, equipment auctions, sales opportunities, and business development programs such as hardwood value improvement projects that show how to maximize log grade at the landing.

Safety, Training, and Education

Safety has always been central to our mission. CLA develops safety training materials, supports on site safety programs, and distributes tools that keep crews informed and protected. From chain saw safety to trucking regulations, members have ongoing access to educational resources built for real world operations.

Staying Connected and Moving Forward

We host a statewide annual meeting and several regional meetings each year. Members receive quarterly newsletters, targeted email alerts, and access to member contact information so they can find support quickly when working outside their normal routes.

Membership in the Carolina Loggers Association is more than a listing or a card in your wallet. It is a network of people who understand the work, a voice in the legislature, a source of training and savings, and a partner for every logger and trucking business that wants a stronger, safer, and more successful future in the woods.
